The National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) Mid California is the oldest minority construction trade association in California. We are proud to be in association with the Black Contractors Association of San Diego, CA for over 25 years.
Founded in Oakland, California, in 1969 by Raymond Dones and Joseph Debro, the organization has established a significant legacy. NAMC’s presence and voice in this industry are more essential today than ever to advance its mission of providing access (contract and resource opportunities), advocacy (legislative impact), and contractor readiness (training, capacity building, and growth) for its members.
For over 55 years, NAMC has championed diversity and believes in addressing solutions to discrimination within the industry. None is more critical than the underutilization of Black & Brown minority contractors, vendors, and workforce development. In our industry, resources are plentiful; what’s lacking is the willingness to put Black & Brown workers to work. What can we do as far as solutions? “Good trouble”, as the late Mr. John Lewis stated, who was arrested more than 40 times, exemplifies his powerful brand of purposeful resistance for equity in the construction industry.
